I greatly appreciate the ‘The learning City’ project,It inspires me in the following three dimensions.

Firstly, it fulfills my dream of immersing myself in the earthscape beauty of the deserted industrial area in Ruhr district. I am a student who is majoring in landscape architecture, the restoration and transformation of brownfield areas as well as the respectful attitude to nature and historic sites in Emscher river regeneration projects are of paramount value for me to utilize in my future designing life.

Furthermore, it enables me to have the opportunity to share ideas with students from different academic backgrounds. By a development of hands-on ideas and solutions among students, academic experts and political decision-makers from China and Germany for sustainable urban planning with high potential for implementation, I am sure that the learning cities will turn on a new and vigorous look.

Last but not the least, well goes the proverb, “live and learn”, for me life is a never ending learning process. Learning in life should not be limited to within the realms of our school boundaries, we should grasp the thinking pattern from the studio, think and learn, and never be afraid to speak out our minds.
